Shingo grew up with the grand walls of NYC architecture towering above him. At the young age of 8, his forward-thinking mom signed him up for climbing lessons in to burn off some of his inexhaustible energy. Shingo was hooked and since then, walls of granite have become his skyline. Today, he calls Salt Lake City home, and spends his free moments in the Wasatch scoping out new lines and communing with fellow climbers who, like himself, cant get enough of the challenge, grounding, and intrigue of puzzling out a new problem. “It’s an often fickle process that leads to many dead ends, but every once in a while, I get to be part of something fleeting – a first ascent – a chance to express myself creatively through my craft, in the most aesthetic of settings.” In the off-season, Shingo can be found ripping it up on 2 boards at XYZ mountain/slope/someplace-with-snow, or heading down to Argentina to connect with friends and climb new objectives. Check back for more stories of Shingo’s adventures.
