Profile

Molly Baker is a not just a skier. She is a dancer, a lover of all things pastry, a runner, a temporary blueberry farmer (house painter, bartender, nanny, organic house cleaner…), a mountain biker and freerider in training, ex-canyoneer, reader, writer, thinker, hiker, simple exister, part-time nomad, and friend. She has called Utah and the Wasatch mountains “home” for the past 4 years, but is on the move again.

Part I of her newest journey has taken her to an organic blueberry farm in the Northwest, planted on the west side of the Cascades, where she lives above a barn on another farm and roams the surrounding mountains (sometimes skiing in her shorts) and old growth forests (good places to break a derailleur) in her free time. Part II was a sample of life in Boulder, CO for an internship with Skiing Magazine. And Part 111 (and this is only a prophecy right now) should land her in the winter wonderland of Mt Baker (no relation) or some other winter wonderland in which to explore.

On Main Street in Sun Valley
No stranger to ski history, Sun Valley, Idaho is a living, breathing museum of the North American ski timeline, dating back to the 1930’s. On the other hand, it is an ageless place. While hosting the birthplace of some of skiing’s favorite young pros (such as Picabo Street, Lynsey Dyer [...]

Molly on the 6+ hours up
We had seen Fitz Roy posing out there in the distance, like a monument to adventure, as we made our way further south on Argentina’s Route 40 to El Calafate.
Our group had recently covered 1600 kilometers (994.19 miles) from Bariloche to this Southern Patagonia region with our captain, Rodrigo Harding, [...]

“There are no ski bums in Argentina. They just don’t exist.” So, the preface had been set, as told by Argentine skier, Santiago Guzman. This was the first night he stayed with us in Glacier. The first of twelve nights of ski bumming.

Molly in Freeskiers Women's Annual
The Art of Powism….Powism is a philosophy derived from the eccentric milieu of ski towns and life in the mountains. The notion was contrived as a byproduct of skiing daily and the blessings ensued. It is not so much a religion, as it is a set of principles, which can be [...]
