Alpental Ice Climbing
Loading ...A week of very cold temperatures in the Pacific Northwest with no precipitation led to some promising ice conditions. A scheduled play day initially intended for skiing turned into a trip to a waterfall instead.

Alex Kutches developed a passion for the mountains as he learned to ski in California. Skiing turned to snowboarding, which led to telemark skiing and evolved to alpine touring. Somewhere in the middle of all that snowsport dilemma, Alex discovered both rock climbing and whitewater kayaking at the University of Oregon, where at the same time, he ran track for the Ducks. Now Alex lives in Washington State with his beautiful wife Susanna and two children, Kate and AJ. When not at work for Outdoor Research, Alex spends time with family and friends.
